New Delhi. The 62nd edition of the prestigious Subroto Cup international football tournament is starting today from September 19, 2023, in which the matches of the First Junior Girls (Under 17) category will start first. Will be.

A total of 33 teams are in the field in the junior girls category, divided into eight groups, including Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Pratisthan (BKSP), which will add an international touch to the tournament. The winners of each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. The group stage matches will start from tomorrow and will end on 23rd of this month. The quarter-finals will be played on 24 September and the semi-finals will be played the next day. The final of the girls category will be held on September 26 at Ambedkar Stadium.

Defending champions, St. Patrick’s High School, Gumla, Jharkhand will start with the aim of defending their title in Group F when they take on Air Force Bal Bharti School, New Delhi at the Ambedkar Stadium on September 20, 2023.

Apart from the iconic Ambedkar Stadium, Tejas Football Ground (Delhi), Subroto Football Ground (Delhi) and G.D. Goenka School (Gurugram) grounds will be the venue of the event in Delhi/NCR region.

The Subroto Cup, organized by the Indian Air Force (IAF) under the aegis of SMSES, was first held in 1960 and is named after Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee, who conceived the idea to promote the sport at the grassroots level. Did.
