Asian Games: India won gold medal in archery compound women’s team event

Hangzhou. The Indian archery compound women’s team of Jyoti Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand and Preneet Kaur won gold in the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Thursday. Won the medal.

The trio of Jyoti, Aditi and Parneet won the gold medal by defeating Chinese Taipei’s Yi-Hsuan Chen, Ai-Jou Huang and Lu-Yun Wang 230-229. In the first set, Chinese Taipei gave a tough fight to India and won it 54-56, but after that India dominated the entire match and won the second gold medal in archery.

Earlier in the quarterfinal round of the compound women’s team event, the Indian women’s archery team led by Jyoti Surekha defeated Hong Kong 231-220 to enter the next round of the tournament. Although Hong Kong’s Hung Ting Cheng, Yuk Sheung Wong and Yin Yi Luk gave a tough fight in the match, the Indian archers made no mistakes to win.

India’s men’s compound team won India’s 21st gold medal in the Asian Games on Thursday. The Indian team of Abhishek Verma, Ojas Deotale and Prathamesh Javkar won another archery gold medal after a 235-230 win against South Korea.

India dominated the match from the first set itself. India performed brilliantly in the first set and won the first set 55-58. But later in the second set, Korea made a comeback in the match and won the set 59-58. In the third set, the Indian trio once again captured the set and won the set 57-59. In the last and final set, India performed brilliantly and scored full 10 points.

Earlier on Thursday, India registered a 221-235 win against Bhutan’s Tandin Dorji, Khendrup and Younten Jamtsho in the quarter-final match to book a place in the semi-finals. The archery compound men’s team defeated Chinese Taipei’s Cheng-Wei Chang, Chieh-Lun Chen and Cheng-Jui Yang 224-235 in the semi-final match.

Earlier in the day, India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand and Preneet Kaur won the gold medal in the women’s compound team event by defeating Chinese Taipei’s Yi-Hsuan Chen, Ai-Jou Huang and Lu-Yun Wang 230-229. With the gold medal in the archery compound men’s team event, India is now placed fourth with a total of 84 medals, which includes 21 gold, 31 silver and 32 bronze medals.
