Asian Games: Indian team won gold in men’s 4×400 meter relay event
Hangzhou. The quartet of Anas Muhammad Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi and Rajesh Ramesh won the 18th gold medal for India at the Asian Games in the men’s 4×400 meters relay on Wednesday. Broke a new national record by winning (18th gold medal). The Indian team won the gold medal with a timing of 3:01.58 seconds.
Qatar finished second with their season’s best time of 3:02.05 seconds. While Sri Lanka won the bronze medal with a timing of 3:02.55 seconds and created its new national record. The Iraqi team was disqualified from the competition due to lane violations.
While the Indian quartet was aiming for the gold, on the other side of the field Indian javelin throwers, Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena were competing for the gold in a very exciting men’s final. While the rest were competing only for the sole bronze medal.
There was a tough competition between the two Indian athletes as both players strived for the gold, however, in the end, the defending champions won with their season’s best of 88.88. Meanwhile, Jena showed her mettle in the event and won the silver medal after a lot of competition with Neeraj.
Indian women’s 4×400 meter relay team won silver
The Indian women’s 4x400m relay team of Vithya Ramraj, Aishwarya Mishra, Prachi and Subha Venkatesan won a silver medal at the ongoing 19th Asian Games on Wednesday.
Despite besting the previous Asian Games record time (3:28.68 in 2014 Incheon), the Indian quartet was beaten by Bahrain, who won the gold medal with a new record time of 3:27.65. Sri Lankan team won the bronze medal.
