Hangzhou. Indian women’s cricket team has reached the semi-finals of the Asian Games. Indian team’s quarterfinal match against Malaysia today ended without any result due to rain, after which India entered the semi-finals. The Indian team will now play its semi-final match on Sunday 24 September.

Talking about the match, in this match the Malaysian team won the toss and invited India to bat first. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma gave India a fast start and added 57 runs in 5.1 overs. Mahira Ismail gave the first success to Malaysia by dismissing Mandhana on the second ball of the fifth over. Mandhana played a quick inning of 27 runs in 16 balls. However, it started raining shortly after this, when the play started again, the match was reduced to 15-15 overs instead of 20 overs.

After the match started again, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues started playing fast, especially Shafali adopted a very aggressive stance. Both of them added 143 runs in 12.5 overs. Mas Ilisa gave some relief to Malaysia by dismissing Shafali. Shafali added 67 runs in 39 balls with the help of 4 fours and 5 sixes. In the end, Richa Ghosh scored 21 runs in seven balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six, taking India to a huge score of 173 runs for 2 wickets in 15 overs. At the same time, Jemimah remained unbeaten after scoring 47 runs in 29 balls with the help of 6 fours.

After this, when Malaysia started batting, only 2 balls were bowled when it started raining again. When the rain did not stop, the umpires declared the match over and with this the Indian team reached the semi-finals.
