Bioinformatics Analyst
Bioinformatics Analysts 2 works as a part of research teams and independently to contribute to genomic research projects and data analysis using a variety of database and software applications. Develops new project-oriented analytical workflows. The responsibilities include ingest, processing, management, annotation, and analysis of high-throughput genomic data and preparing for further analysis, research, submission to public databases or publication.
Primary responsibilities:
Following established procedures or specific scientific protocols, performs preliminary analysis of genomic data, quality assurance, transforms and load data for use by other analysts or scientists. Provide support to existing personnel for data analysis.
Develops new analytical workflow and software tools and writes code for specific analyses.
Integrates and analyze data from a variety of internal and external projects
Works with senior bioinformaticians to translates life scientist researchers’ scientific goals into analytical strategies and process requirements.
Perform data mining using various internal resources, public sequencing and literature databases.
Use best practices for code development and documentation
Organize, annotate, integrate and communicate genomic data and other relevant data types to create static and interactive reports, SOPs, code documentation, graphic presentations or publishable images
Education:
BS in quantitative disciplines of life sciences or higher with 0-4 years of experience
Requirements:
Prior genomics research experience.
Proficiency with UNIX-based operating system and shell scripting.
Experience with high performance cluster or cloud (AWS)
Proficiency with at least one programming language R, Python, SQL (R is strongly preferred)
Extensive experience with public databases and tools (NCBI, ENCODE, ENSEMBL, UCSC genomics browser, etc)
Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
Experience with version control, we use git
