Farmer’s daughter created history in Asian Games, won gold medal in the race
New Delhi: Parul Chaudhary of India has created history in Asian Games. He won gold medal in 5000 meter race. Parul Chaudhary has become the third track and field athlete from India to win a gold medal in the Asian Games. Parul also won silver medal for India in 3000 meter race. Parul’s gold is India’s third gold in track and field at the 2023 Asian Games, joining the medals won by shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor and men’s 3000m steeplechase winner Avinash Sable.
Parul Chaudhary comes from a farmer family. She sometimes used to go to the stadium on foot. Today she is the number one runner in the country. Parul’s father’s name is Kishanpal. Parul’s sister is also a runner. Parul, a resident of the only village in Daurala area of Meerut, had made a national record in 3000 meters in Los Angeles. She set a national record during the Sound Running Sunset Tour One in Los Angeles and became the first athlete in the country to clock under nine minutes in the women’s 3000 meters event.
Parul Chaudhary won the silver medal with a timing of 9 minutes 27.63 seconds. She took more than 9 seconds more time than the Bahraini runner. Preeti won the bronze medal with a time of 9 minutes 43.32 seconds. Preeti performed her personal best. Parul also managed to perform better than the Asian Games record, but it was not even close to her national record. He had set a national record with a timing of nine minutes 15.31 seconds during the World Championships in Budapest in August this year and qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024.
