Job Description :
SMBC Human Resources is seeking a 3+ month assignment for an HR Accounting Analyst. This position will be responsible to provide stand-alone general accounting support to assigned HR functions.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Employee Benefits, this position is responsible for assigned accounting activities, which may include work outside of Employee Benefits within HR, based on business requirements. This role will apply an understanding of assigned operational processes with a knowledge of fundamental accounting practices and principles to maintain assigned accounts, conduct regular reconciliations and required forensics, interact in a timely manner with applicable vendors and internal parties (i.e., Payroll, Vendor Accounting, etc.) and prepare necessary analyses and reporting. This individual’s work will only be spot checked by a more senior team member.
Bookkeep and reconcile assigned HR manual accounts on a semi and monthly basis (depending on nature of the accounts)
Conduct necessary accounting “forensics” as part of reconciliation procedures – escalate open items to appropriate senior member of assigned HR team(s)
Follow up with assigned HR team(s), internal SMBC parties and external vendor(s) to resolve (or confirm resolution of) open items
‘Provide applicable vendor reporting of assigned accounts.
Assist with ad-hoc reports and special projects.
‘Support senior staff members as needed.
2-5 Years of Specialized experience in Financial Services
Focus on Finance & Accounting
Preferred: BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
Working knowledge of fundamental accounting, bookkeeping, account reconciliation, accounting “forensics” and reporting principles, practices and procedures
Working knowledge of day-to-day processes within assigned HR groups
Familiarity with core HR practices and services (helpful)
Knowledge of Oracle GL and Loan IQ Applications – preferred
Strong documentation and analytical skills
Analytic and detailed oriented. Quick learner
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and with general direction
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
