The first match of the tournament was played by the Indian team against Pakistan, which was canceled due to rain. But India and Pakistan clashed again in the Super-4 round. This match was to be held on September 10, but rain again created havoc. After this the match was held on the reserve day (11 September). This time the Indian team did not waste any opportunity and defeated Pakistan badly by 228 runs.

After this it rained and the match could not be played. KL Rahul (17) and Virat Kohli (8) were unbeaten. Then the match was held a day later i.e. on Reserve Day (11 September). The Indian team played with this score in the reserve day and then started defeating the Pakistani bowlers. The Indian team did not lose a single wicket in the reserve day. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played strong innings. Rahul scored his sixth and Kohli his 47th ODI century.
In the reserve day, Rahul and Kohli thoroughly defeated the Pakistani bowlers. Rahul played an unbeaten inning of 111 runs on 106 balls and Kohli played an unbeaten inning of 122 runs on 94 balls. There was a partnership of 233 runs between the two in 194 balls. Thanks to this innings of Kohli-Rahul, the Indian team scored 356 runs after losing 2 wickets in the match.
Pakistan had a target of 357 runs to win the match, but the entire team was limited to 00 runs in 00 overs. Fakhar Zaman scored 27 runs for the team. Whereas Agha Salman and Iftikhar Ahmed could score only 23-23 runs. Whereas for the Indian team, star spinner Kuldeep Yadav took maximum 4 wickets.
