Overview:

Lutron is seeking a seasoned and passionate Data Scientist to lead data science projects that will inform strategic business decisions. In this role, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of a growing team that is focused on applying data science, machine learning, and algorithms to various Lutron engineering and business challenges. You will apply your knowledge and experience to interact with stakeholders, identify new problems and opportunities, develop innovative propositions, mentor junior team members, contribute to intellectual property, and build and pilot first-of-their-kind demonstrations.
Responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to data science projects to enable informed business decisions, improve operational efficiency, and develop new products
Coach and mentor junior data scientists by taking a hands-on approach to leadership that motivates and supports our junior talent
Directly supervise 1 – 4 junior data scientists, providing timely feedback and career direction
Engage with business stakeholders and technical leads to identify needs, define problems, identify data sources, and formulate data-driven approaches to address challenges
Convert ambitions and requests into project requirements and an executable plan
Work independently or with the data science team on creating and implementing the solutions to answer business stakeholders’ needs
Ensure quality of outcomes from EDA and ML efforts
Present insights found from EDA and modeling to stakeholders to tell the story while identifying drivers and opportunities of business performance
Determine use cases and work with business and technical stakeholders to implement the solutions
Qualifications:

Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, or Statistics (Master’s or PhD preferred)
Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0
8+ years of industry experience working on data science or related projects
Experience leading data science projects, working with business stakeholders, and mentoring junior data scientists
Proven technical skills on machine learning/AI with proven track record. These technical skills include, but not limited to, regression techniques, neural networks, decision trees, clustering, pattern recognition, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, statistical techniques, deep learning, supervised learning, unsupervised learning Strong technical knowledge on big data technologies, cloud, and opensource software tools
Experience and passion in transforming ML models into production codes and deploying into production environments
Experienced in using AI/ML platforms, technologies, techniques (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Apache MXnet, Theano, Keras, CNTK, scikit-learn, H2O, Spark MLlib, etc).
Proficiency with Python, R, and/or Scala
Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases
