New Delhi. Pakistan lost the World Cup 2023 warm-up match against Australia by 14 runs on Tuesday. This match was played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. Australia set a target of 352 runs, in response to which Pakistan team was reduced to 337 in 47.4 overs. Pakistan has caused embarrassment twice before the World Cup. Pakistan had to face defeat by 5 wickets at the hands of New Zealand in its first warm-up match. Before the start of the World Cup on October 5, all the teams were given a chance to play two practice matches each. Both India’s matches were washed out due to rain.

Babar Azam, who came at number six in the practice match against Australia, scored the most runs. He played a blazing inning of 90 runs in 59 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes. Babar himself retired and returned to the pavilion. Apart from him, Iftikhar Ahmed’s bat worked. Iftikhar scored 83 runs in 85 balls. He hit 6 fours and 4 sixes. Mohammad Nawaz scored 50 runs in 42 balls with 6 fours and one six. Pakistan team was at the score of 292/6 till the 41st over but after that the innings faltered. Nawaz was out in the 47th over. Usama Mir (15) and Hasan Ali (17) could not do anything special. For Australia, Marnus Labuschagne took three wickets while captain Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh took two wickets each.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat. Australia added 351 runs after losing 7 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Opener David Warner (48) and Marsh made a partnership of 83 runs for the first wicket. Steve Smith (27) could not play a big innings. Labuschagne (40) missed his half-century. Glenn Maxwell played an inning of 77 runs in 71 balls. He hit 5 fours and 6 sixes. Cameron Green remained unbeaten after scoring 50 runs in 40 balls. Josh Inglis contributed 48 runs in 39 balls. Usama Mir took two wickets for Pakistan. Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim, Shadab and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each. Let us tell you that Pakistan will start its campaign in the World Cup against Netherlands on 6th October. Australia will play its first match against India on October 8.
