New Delhi. The second match of Asia Cup 2023 Super-4 was played on Saturday between defending champions Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In this match, Dasun Shanaka’s team not only opened its account in the points table of Super-4 by winning by 21 runs but also almost eliminated Bangladesh from the race for the final. This is Bangladesh’s second consecutive defeat in Super-4. Before Sri Lanka, they were defeated by Pakistan by 7 wickets at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In such a situation, their chances of reaching the final are very less. Shakib Al Hasan’s team’s last match in the Super-4 stage is against India on September 15. Let us know the equation of all the teams in Asia Cup 2023 Super-4-
Pakistan leads the race
Babar Azam-led Pakistani team has topped the points table by defeating Bangladesh by 7 wickets. Pakistan’s net run rate is crossing 1. In such a situation, his hopes of reaching the finals are quite high. Men in Green have to play the next two matches in Super-4 against India and Sri Lanka. If the team wins even one of these matches, their chances of reaching the final will increase. On the other hand, if Pakistan is successful in defeating the opposition teams in both the matches, then it will get the ticket to the final without any doubt. Pakistan’s match against India is today i.e. on 10th September, while Babar Azam’s team will face Sri Lanka on 14th September.
Sri Lanka also in the queue
Defending champion Sri Lanka also started the Super-4 with a win by defeating Bangladesh by 21 runs in its first match. If Sri Lanka wants to defend the Asia Cup title, they will have to win at least one of their next two matches. If the team wins all three matches then no one can stop them from reaching the finals. Looking at Sri Lanka’s past track record in ODI cricket, this seems absolutely possible. Sri Lanka has won its record 13th consecutive match in ODI cricket by defeating Bangladesh and the surprising thing is that they have all out the opposition team in all these 13 matches. Sri Lanka’s next match in the Asia Cup is against India on 12 September and against Pakistan on 14 September.
India eyes a great start
Team India led by Rohit Sharma will start its Super-4 stage against Pakistan today i.e. on 10th September. The team will be eyeing its first win. When the match between India and Pakistan was played in the group stage, it was affected by rain. If rain disrupts this match also, then Team India may face problems. However, a special reserve day has been kept for this match. After Pakistan, India has to play against Sri Lanka on 12th September and against Bangladesh from 15th September.
Bangladesh’s disturbed equation
Bangladesh team is on the verge of being eliminated from the tournament after losing its first two matches of Asia Cup 2023 Super-4. However, he still has a chance to get a ticket to the final. Shakib Al Hasan’s team has to play its last match of Super-4 against India on 15 September. In this match, the team will not only have to register victory, but will also have to focus on improving the run rate. If Shakib Al Hasan’s team is successful in doing this, then the fate of their final will be in the hands of rain and the opposition team. After defeating India, Bangladesh team will have to pray for the defeat of other teams.
