Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary: $15.52 – $25.44 (Dependent on Qualifications)

Who May Apply?

The Vital Records Clerk coordinates issuance of birth and death certificates for Vital Statistics Program and perform the more difficult and complex work of verification of paternity within Vital Statistics Program.
Follows all Vital Records and Statistics functions, including applicable laws, regulations and customer service
Provides clear verbal and written instructions and reference materials
Assures provision of assistance and information to the public, other county departments, law enforcement and legal offices, federal agencies, and military offices
Responds to and resolves complaints received at the counter, over the phone or through the mail
Researches and interprets government codes, government agency policies and procedures to resolve complex customer issues
Receives amendments and cross-match listings from the office of the State Registrar and ensures timely processing
Oversees and coordinates archiving of replacement or missing vital record images
Issues burial transit permits to authorize moving deceased out of state or country
Issues non-communicable for death verification
Acknowledges paternity for parents not listed on birth certificates
Performs other duties as assigned
Requires High School or GED equivalent
Minimum of two (2) years of experience
Must have the ability to become a Notary Public in the state of Texas
A valid driver’s license is required. Successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire.

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.
Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.
