World Cup-2023: Virat Kohli becomes the first Indian to score 11,000 runs at number-3

The Indian Cricket Team defeated Australia by 6 wickets in the match played at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai. In this match, Virat Kohli has achieved a big achievement in his name. When Virat Kohli scored 38 runs in this match, he completed 11,000 runs at number-3. He is the first Indian batsman to do so.

The record of scoring most runs at number-3 in ODI is in the name of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. He has scored 12,662 runs while playing at this number. Similarly, the third highest run scoring batsman at this number is former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara (9,747). The record for scoring most ODI runs in one batting order is held by the great Indian opening batsman Sachin Tendulkar. He had scored 13,685 runs at number-2.

He has scored 13,133* runs in 270 innings of 282 ODIs at an average of 58 and a strike rate of 94. He made his ODI debut on 18 August 2008 against the Sri Lankan cricket team in Dambulla. Virat has scored 8,676 runs in 111 Tests and 4,008 runs in 115 T20 Internationals.
